Our Mission

We are so excited that you have contacted Sew Retro for your bridal alterations. We are passionate about making you feel beautiful, confident, and in love with your wedding gown.

We at Sew Retro want you to love your dress…really LOVE IT! We want you to step into your dress and feel like a million dollars! We want you to be able to confidently walk into your event knowing your dress not only expresses your individuality, but fits you perfectly. We want you to look into the mirror and say,”WOW!”

We trust this is the reason you are considering Sew Retro for all your bridal sewing needs. Our philosophy is, “If you’re not happy, then we aren’t happy!”

We recommend booking as soon as you know your wedding date.

There is a $50 fee (non-refundable) which holds you in our fitting and bridal alterations calendar and is credited back to your fitting package cost.

There are three alterations appointments(in most cases):

1) First fitting (about 3 months before your wedding): This is when we look at the gown with you and talk through the first round of alterations. Bring shoes of the height you plan to wear (preferably the ones you intend to wear the day of the wedding) and any undergarments you want to wear (we can advise on shapewear during the fitting too). We can provide bra cups too!

2) Try-on appointment (about 2 months before the wedding): This is when we see how the first alterations went and decide if we need to make any other changes. If we haven’t already, we will mark the hem and pin up different types of bustles.

3) Third/pickup appointment (about 14 days before the wedding or departure date): This is usually when your alterations are finished. Pick a bestie to bring, because this is when we will show them how to help you get dressed, and they will also learn how to do your bustle!

The Fitting fee covers all the non-sewing time you spend with us in person or on the phone, emails, texts, etc. It does not include the cost of alterations but guarantees you some quality one-on-one time with our bridal alterations specialist in our cozy studio. This covers all the appointment times with us.

Basic Alterations services usually include 3 fittings, which allows for a more relaxed atmosphere and makes for the perfectly fitted gown.

Your first fitting for alterations is booked 10-12 weeks prior to the wedding date.

Your final fitting will be scheduled for 1-2 weeks before the wedding date, to ensure that perfect fit.

Major alterations or gown reconstruction requires 3-4 months working time.

These requirements will be discussed thoroughly at our first appointment.

The final payment is due at your final fitting but you are able to make payments through out the process. Alteration costs will be communicated during your first fitting.

Alteration costs vary depending on the level of difficulty, basic alterations are typically between $650-$1100.
If there are any customizations requested, they will be an additional cost.

Alterations within a 6-week window will have a $200 rush fee added to the final invoice.

Alterations within a 4-week window will have a $300 rush fee added. Brides are encouraged to book ahead!
